What Is Box Build Assembly?
Box build assembly — sometimes called systems integration or final assembly — is the process of taking a completed printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) and integrating it into a finished, deployable product. Where PCB assembly stops at the populated board, box build continues: mounting the board into an enclosure, adding wiring and cable harnesses, installing displays, switches, power supplies, and connectors, and integrating any sub-assemblies into a complete working unit. In short, PCB assembly produces the board; box build produces the product. A box build can range from a simple board-in-a-case to a complex rack or cabinet with multiple PCBAs, electromechanical components, and embedded software — fully tested and ready to ship to your customer or deploy in the field.
